Dr. Sebastian Vollmer is the new Assistant Professor for Development Economics

Dr. Sebastian Vollmer is the new Assistant Professor for Development Economics ("Juniorprofessur") at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Göttingen. In Göttingen he teaches courses in the Bachelor’s programme in Economics and in the Two-Subject Bachelor's Programme, Economics, as well as in the Master’s programmes in International Economics and Development Economics. His research foci are in the fields of equity and growth as well as public health.

After graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Economics at the University of Göttingen, Sebastian Vollmer received his doctoral degree in Development Economics also in Göttingen. Supervisor of his doctoral thesis was Prof. Stephan Klasen, PhD. He then switched to the Institute of Macroeconomics of the University of Hanover and went as research fellow for two years to the Harvard University shortly after.

Into the bargain, Dr. Vollmer worked for the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme and taught at the Dartmouth College. He is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Global Health at the Harvard School of Public Health.
