Does the University make premises available for party-political events?
No, the University fundamentally does not make premises available for events of political parties. The use of University premises is only possible for political University groups.




Can fraternities use the Aula [‘auditorium’] am Wilhelmsplatz for events?
No, the Aula is not available for foundation celebrations or any other fraternity events, nor for private events of any type. Organisers of such events can contact the Zentrale Raumvergabe [‘central room allocation’] for rooms in the Zentrale Hörsaalgebäude [‘central lecture theatre building’].

Can I host a reception in the Aula building following an event in the Aula am Wilhelmsplatz?
Yes, smaller stand-up receptions are generally possible. However, only the Kleine Aula [‘small auditorium’] is available for this, not the Aula foyer. The capacity of the Kleine Aula is limited to approx. 150 persons. For events of more than 150 persons the hall in the Alte Mensa [‘old refectory’] opposite the Aula building is suitable.

For which events are the rooms in the Historische Sternwarte [‘historical observatory’] available?
The Historische Sternwarte is the base of the Lichtenberg-Kolleg and is used for scientific events of the Kolleg. On agreement events with a contextual reference to the Lichtenberg-Kolleg as well as representative events of the University can also be held there.
Use for events outside the University as well as private hire of the Observatory is not possible.




Can I visit the Observatory?
Yes, a visit to the Observatory can be booked through the Tourist Information Office of the City of Göttingen. Guided tours are available Saturdays from 12-2pm and Sundays from 10-2pm.

Can I delegate the organisation of conferences and conventions to Event Management?
Event Management offers individual modules for the organisation of conferences and conventions. Provision of a full service by Event Management is however not possible.
If required please contact a professional conference management agency.




Does Event Management also bear costs for my event?
Event Management categorically does not bear event costs.




Who supports me in the planning and implementation of appraisals?
If you are planning a scientific appraisal (e.g. by DFG), please contact the ResearchService for this (point of contact Dr Christine Denys, tel. +49 (0)551/39-4316).
Point of contact for all other types of events is e.g. the University Fundraising Office (Dr Ulrich Steinmetz, tel. +49 (0)551/39-12332).




Do I get a volume discount for a larger order of image products and conference materials?
No, the products offered are already being sold at cost price.




How can I attract the President or Vice-President for a welcome address at my event?
You can submit your query to Event Management. Please include a brief description of your event, the location and the expected number of participants. Your request will be discussed with the Presidium.
