In publica commoda

Historical Observatory

For decades the lavishly restored Historische Sternwarte was the residence and place of work of Göttingen’s famous academic Carl Friedrich Gauß (1777 to 1855); today the Lichtenberg-Kolleg is based there.

Three aesthetically impressive seminar and event rooms (Red, Blue and Green Hall) satisfying the highest representative requirements have evolved from the former meridian rooms. The use of these rooms is primarily reserved for the Lichtenberg-Kolleg. The Lichtenberg-Kolleg’s public lectures are for instance held here. The premises can be booked for particular scientific events of the University that have a topical connection with the Lichtenberg-Kolleg and will not disturb the academic activities there.

The Red and the Green Hall can respectively accommodate up to 70 persons (parliamentary seating).

All rooms can be equipped with projector, screen, overhead protector, flip chart and white board.
