Founding a start-up

Start-up support and advice at the faculty and the university

The University of Göttingen welcomes and supports start-ups by its students, graduates and academic staff.

The central point of contact for future company founders is the University's start-up support service. At the faculty level, the respective start-up commissioners provide support.

At our faculty, Prof. Dr. Stefan Dierkes is the first point of contact for start-up ideas. He refers those interested in founding a company to the university's start-up support and, in close coordination with the staff there, accompanies the first steps on the path from the idea to implementation.

"It makes sense to start your own business or work on an idea during your studies, because you learn an incredible amount about yourself and your professional career. And the social pressure is not there yet, so you can try out a lot. In addition, we were able to combine the theoretical content of our study programme with practical experience."
