Structured Doctoral Programme
The Faculty of Business and Economics offers a structured doctoral programme which is comprised of a structured programme of study, a thesis committee, and regular review of progress on the doctoral requirements. The objective of the doctoral programme is to prepare students for a successful career in research and teaching as well as in non-academic professions.
For this purpose, in addition to academic research such as dissertation work, students develop specialized skills and techniques that demonstrate research-oriented training. In addition, the doctoral programme fosters professional skills such as team work and interdisciplinary work.
The doctoral programme in economic sciences is captured under the umbrella of the Göttingen Graduate School of Social Sciences (GGG). The GGG addresses doctoral students of the faculties of social sciences, i.e. the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The granting of doctoral degrees is however autonomous to each faculty, therefore, doctoral candidates in economic sciences receive the title, Dr. rer. pol.
