To cope with the overlapping semester times between the University of Göttingen and different universities from abroad, the Faculty of Economic Sciences is offering an increasing amount of english-taught-modules with variational lecture periods to our incoming and outgoing students.

Glossary

„Vorlesung“ = Lecture
A course consisting of weekly classes in which the lecturer speaks about scientific topics in front of a bigger audience; discussions are rare, the corresponding assignment is usually an exam at the end of the lecture period.

„+ Übung“ = + Tutorial / Practical
Mostly offered in conjunction with a lecture; while students learn about theoretical backgrounds in a lecture, tutorials/practicals offer an opportunity to learn about the practical implications and practice the application of the theory.

“Seminar”
Seminars are usually held in smaller groups in which students contribute to the class, for example, by preparing presentations or leading discussions. Most seminars consist of a reduced number of classes while the focus lies on preparing a seminar paper in advance of the semester. Most seminars require registration in advance, places are usually limited, please check registration deadline and formalities for the seminars in the module description.
