Laura Sutcliffe studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge before completing an MSc in Biodiversity and Ecology at the Georg-August University of Göttingen. She has worked on various ecological projects around the world, finally ending up in Romania where she looked at the monitoring of agri-environment schemes in High Nature Value grassland for her MSc dissertation. This theme of grassland is continued in her PhD research, investigating plant species diversity on common grazing land in Southern Transylvania (Romania), and how this is influenced by the institutions that govern its use.
