A3 Alfvénic impact on heliospheric plasma turbulence
Prof. Dr. Uwe Motschmann, Dr. Yasuhito Narita
Plasma turbulence in the heliosphere such as in the solar wind and Earth's magnetosphere will be studied by measurements and simulations. The goal is to reveal the physical mechanisms of energy cascade and dissipation in anisotropic plasma and for this purpose energy spectra and wave modes will be determined by means of in situ multi-spacecraft measurements as well as direct numerical simulations. A model of plasma turbulence will be proposed, which serves as a reference to turbulence studies in other astrophysical systems such as in the solar, stellar, and galactic winds, and to the study of turbulent magnetic reconnection.
