Eva-Maria Neher

Managing and Executive Director of XLAB (Experimental laboratory for young people), Göttingen

Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Neher born 1950 in Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Germany, studied Microbiology, Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry at the University of Göttingen. Eva-Maria Neher received a postdoctoral fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry followed by the position of an assistant lecturer at the Medical School of the University of Göttingen. After a parental leave she started to teach experiment-based Biology and Chemistry at the Freie Waldorfschule Göttingen.
Eva-Maria Neher is founder and director of XLAB – Experimental Laboratory for Young People in Göttingen (since 2000) and founder and managing director of the XLAB-foundation (since 2008).
In 2007 she was awarded with the Lower Saxony State Award for her commitment to science education. She received an honorary professorship at the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Göttingen (2009) and was awarded with the Federal Cross of Merit First Class (2013).
Eva-Maria Neher is chairman of the advisory board of the HAWK – University of Applied Science and Arts Hildesheim, Holzminden, Göttingen (since 2008) and of the advisory board of the EUF – European University Flensburg (since 2014). 2014 – 2016 she was president of the GDNÄ – Gesellschaft deutscher Naturforscher und Ärzte.
