Vortrag am 6. Juni 2023 von 18-20 Uhr, Dr. Menahem Merhavy, KWZ 0.602: Between Iraniyyat and Islamiyyat before and after the revolution in Iran

Abstract

It is common knowledge that the Islamic Republic of Iran combines nationalism with Shiite Islam. This has often been seen by scholars as a compromise between the a-national ideals of the revolution and the more popular sentiments of Iranian identity that permeate Iranian society. In this class we will examine this explanation and offer an alternative course for the interweaving of Iranian national feelings side by side with Shii revival in the Pahlavi era.

The lecture of Dr. Menahem Merhavy and the course can be used for SK Ira 140.
