Sub-NP exclusive focus in Rukiga (or: A squirrel with two tails)
Adnominal modifiers in the Bantu language Rukiga can appear in two forms: with and without an initial vowel: omushaija (o)muhango 'a/the big man'. With the help of a special squirrel with two tails, our work in progress discusses the hypothesis that this vowel triggers the presence and exclusion of alternatives on the level of the modifier. Interestingly, this sub-NP focus is independent of information structure on the clausal level.
