Amely Bauer, M.Sc.

I enjoy working and learning in an international and multidisciplinary environment. To further my knowledge in forensic entomology, I spent two prolonged stays at F.L.I.E.S. Facility at Texas A&M University, USA, in spring 2018 and 2019, where I also conducted the research for my master thesis (supervisors: Dr. Jeffery Tomberlin, Dr. Christoph Bleidorn), and received training from Dr. Krzysztof Szpila and Andrzej Grzywacz at Nicolaus Copernicus University, Poland.

Research interests
I am broadly interested in applied research with focus on the environment, especially ecology and entomology. Specifically, my research interests are directed at insects and their role in decomposition ecology, with focus on the forensic applications, as well as disease ecology and transmission.

Teaching experience
SoSe 2020: Schlüsselkompetenzmodul “Einführung in die Forensische Entomologie” / key competence module “Introduction to forensic entomology”. Conception and implementation of the class.

Academic education
2016 - 2019 M.Sc. Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, with focus on Animal Systematics, Morphology and Behavior and Forensic Biology

2012 - 2016 B.Sc. Environmental Monitoring and Analysis at the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Dresden

2011 - Abitur at Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium Grenzach-Wyhlen
