Qualification, Training, Events

The GGNB offers a wide range of courses, activities and events which complement and support your doctoral studies.

Together with GAUSS and the Career Service, the GGNB offers a comprehensive program of both scientific methods and professional skills courses. The GAUSS Newsletter announces all courses for the month after next, and you can sign up in Stud.IP/eCampus. For details see the GAUSS webpage.

Each doctoral programs holds an annual retreat to foster scientific exchange and networking among its doctoral students. The retreat formats may vary - some take place close to Göttingen, others farther afield; some include faculty members, some only doctoral students; some feature alumni for career talks, some invite external scientific speakers. The travel and accommodation costs for retreats can be borne by the GGNB (exception: the IMPRS, which have their own budgets). For further information, see the Guidelines for organizing a PhD retreat and contact the GGNB Office.

The biennial GGNB Science Day celebrates the science in GGNB with a science slam and a poster session. The next one will take place on 18 October 2022 so save the date.

Student-organized symposia are very welcome and funded by the GGNB. Examples include Horizons in Molecular Biology, Neurizons, Third Infinity, Encephalon and the Women's Careers and Networks. If you would like to join one of the organizing teams, or to organize your own symposium, contact the GGNB Office.

The GGNB Times is compiled annually by a team of doctoral students. If you would like to contribute with texts or pictures, or join the editorial board, contact the GGNB Office. You can find the past issues (as pdf) here: 2021 , 2019 , 2018 , 2017 , 2016 .
