SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

My interests reside in the variety of processes involving gene expression at both transcriptional and translational level. One aspect of gene regulation I am particularly interested in is non-coding RNAs. I wish to investigate their cellular functions to uncover their role in disease and to prospectively exploit them in biotechnological applications (such as siRNA for gene silencing). Through this program, I desire to master new molecular biology techniques to expand the tools I can employ to dive deep into biological questions and perform multidisciplinary research that can positively impact society.
