Ailén de los Heros, M.A.
Ailén de los Heros is a lecturer at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, specializing in European integration and political history. She leads the seminar Political Construction of Europe, where she guides students through the historical and institutional development of the European Union. Her research experience spans Modern European History, with a focus on the political, social, and cultural transformations of the 16th and 17th centuries to Contemporary Latin American History in the second half of the 20th century. She has also investigated topics such as international affairs, peacebuilding, and the dynamics of institutions.
Ailén is an alumna of the prestigious Euroculture program, having earned her Master’s degree from the Université de Strasbourg and the Universidad de Deusto. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. She has gained professional experience as a research and communications assistant at the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI), where she collaborated on international affairs research, and as a teaching and research assistant at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, supporting projects on political science and European integration.
Coming from a disciplinary and culturally diverse background, Ailén brings a rich intercultural perspective to her teaching and research. Having lived and studied in Argentina, France, Spain, and Germany, she approaches historical and political topics with a comparative and global lens. She has presented her work at international conferences, addressing themes such as the political and cultural transformations of early modern Europe and the legacies of violence and dictatorship in contemporary Latin America. Her research has been published in academic outlets, showcasing her expertise in both early modern European history and Latin American studies. Ailén’s dedication to academic excellence has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship from the European Commission, the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship from the Universiteit van Amsterdam, and multiple research scholarships from the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.
