Calibration and evaluation of Community land model 5 (CLM5) for simulating the carbon cycle in tropical forest sites in South-East Asia
My research focuses on improving carbon stocks and fluxes prediction of CLM5 for the forest ecosystems in Jambi, Indonesia. The land surface model CLM5 is widely used for global and regional simulations of vegetation and soil carbon dynamics, but it was developed and calibrated for the temperate region and performed poorly in the tropics. Therefore, I carried out a calibration of key parameters related to carbon cycle processes to improve model performance in Jambi, Indonesia. The calibrated model is then tested against independent sites from Southeast Asia and will be used to make future projections of carbon stocks in three land uses under climate change scenarios.
