(Zeile 1) idaṃ taḑākaṃ Sudarśanaṃ … (Zeile 8) paṃca-saptatiṃ hastān avagāḑhena bhedena nissṛta-sarva-toya marudhaṃnvakalpam atibhṛśaṃ durda …….. syārthe Mauryasya rājñaḥ Caṃdraguptasya rāṣṭriyeṇa Vaiśyena Puṣyaguptena kāritaṃ Aśokasya Mauryasya te Yavanarājena tuṣāsphendādhiṣṭāya
„This lake Sudarśana …. For the sake of … ordered to nbe made by the Vaiśya Puṣyagupta, the provincial governor of the Maurya king Candragupta; adorned with conduits for Aśoka the Maurya by the Yavana king Tuṣāspa while governing; and by the conduit ordered to be made by him, constructed in a manner worthy of a king (and) seen in that breach, the extensive dam ….”
