SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS
My academic interests gravitate around how cancer cells evade the immune system through various methods such as developing multi drug resistance (MDR), and creating an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. I am also fascinated by the role of stem cells in embryonic development and tissue regeneration, with the question that how some animals such as Axolotls and Planarian Flatworms have such unmatched healing powers, able to regenerate limbs, heal their spinal cords and many more fascinating feats. I believe the answer lies in the genetic code. So, my intention is to employ technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9 system, scRNA-Seq and spatial transcriptomics to investigate individual cell behaviors and spatial gene expression patterns, aiming to unravel the molecular pathways orchestrating these events, be it chaos in cancer or harmony in development.
