Printing: General information

How to print

Before printing

It is recommended to have a look on the current workload of the printers on each floor to avoid waiting times.

Go to the menu "Printers and Faxes". Here you can find printers of all of our floors of the CIP-Pool. By double clicking on the printer queue of the printer on your floorlevel you can see the currently queued print jobs.
(Start -> Printers and Faxes -> select corresponding floorlevel).

While printing

After making your adjustments for the printout (printer, pages from/to, multi-page or duplexprinting) you send your print job to the selected printer.

Limited number of pages for print jobs

On behalf of our users the maximum number of pages per print job is limited to 50. If you want to print more than 50 pages you need to split the print jobs respectivly, i.e. print pages 1-30 first and then 31-60 afterwards for a 60-pages document.

Printing quota

When reaching the limit of the quota, printing in the PC-Pool is not possible anymore. You can raise the quota by repurchasing printing credit. You can do this at the studIT Counter in the ZHG or at the Service-Desk of the "WiSo-Rechenzentrums" (CIP-Pool on the 7th. floor).

Current printing balance

You can see you current printing balance when you log into a PC in the CIP-Pool and when you try to print (before confirming the print job).

Printing history

By logging into the PCounter Web Report users can see the print jobs of the last months.

Switching the default printer

It is possible to change the default printer for the duration of the current session. For example you can select whether you want your printouts to be printed on the 6th or 5th floor. This makes sense, if a printer currently is out of order or has a high workload. You can change the default printer in Start->Printers and Faxes. There rightclick the printer of your choice and select "Set As Default Printer".

Printers are using white paper, thus it is not neccessary to make adjustments in the default settings of the printers.
