The Sino-German Institute for Law offers Master's degree programs for German and Chinese students. The Institute also offers internships in Nanjing.
Interested students can contact the Sino-German Institute for Law at an early stage of their studies. Additionally, the Institute's various events offer a wide range of opportunities to find out more about the Dual Master’s degree program in "Chinese Law and Comparative Law" (LL.M./M.A.) or to integrate events in Chinese law into their studies.
Double Master’s Degree for German Students
Jointly offered by the Universities of Nanjing and Göttingen, the Double Master’s degree program "Chinese Law and Comparative Law" comprises four semesters, two of which are to be completed in Göttingen and two in Nanjing. The aim is to grant a comprehensive insight into Chinese law to students who have already completed a degree in Law or Sinology.

The Institute is searching for legal trainees (Rechtsreferendar*innen) as well as interns to teach courses and conduct administrative work in Nanjing on a rolling basis.
Legal trainees can complete a training station in Nanjing in accordance with corresponding regulations. Prerequisites for a stay abroad at the institute include: Above-average study achievements, interest in scientific work, and resilience. Knowledge of Chinese is not a mandatory requirement but encouraged.
Legal trainees are entrusted with practical activities in the Institute’s administration. You will also work on the editing of the Chinese Law Journal (ZChinR) and the administration of the Institute's library. Also, you may also be in charge of a certain project, such as organizing a symposium or workshop. Trainees can also lead a study group on a topic that corresponds to their focus area and work out a lesson plan. If applicable, trainee lawyers are also assigned research tasks.
Moreover, interns are also trained at the Institute. Depending on their level of education, their qualifications and the duration of the internship, they will be involved in the administration and scientific work of the institute. The spectrum of tasks ranges from practical activities such as editing the library software to the independent organization of events and academic work.
In addition to law students, students from other subjects are also welcomed to apply. If possible, they should have a basic knowledge of the Chinese language.

This program has existed for Chinese students since 1984, and can be completed as part of the Göttingen Master of Laws course since the Winter term 2014/15. After successfully completing their studies, students acquire both a Master of Law degree from the University of Göttingen and a Master of Law degree from the University of Nanjing (Double Master's Degree).
