Description:

Today, with more than 7,000 employees, the University Medical Center Goettingen (UMG) is the largest employer in the region and is therefore the daily target of numerous commuters and visitors from both Goettingen as well as the surrounding region. Each year, about 54,000 inpatients and 121,000 outpatients are treated at the UMG. The associated traffic not only threatens nature but is also costly and time-intensive for commuters and overloads the existing parking infrastructure.

By applying intelligent information systems, the project focuses on the reduction of traffic congestion and on an improved park management around the University Medical Center Goettingen. In specific, the project aims to develop and implement a web-based platform which enables employees to commute together to work and hence foster a reduced vehicle parking demand.
