Application for Admission in winter and summer Semester

The application for admission in summer semester must be submitted in writing to the office of the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences by March 15th. The deadline for winter semester is September 15th.


The following documents should be attached to the application (§ 4, Admission Rules and Regulations):

a) Certified copies of Certificates of Study and transcripts in order to prove that the qualifications in accordance with § 3 are fulfilled.

b) A declaration stating whether and, if so, with what success the applicant has previously taken a doctoral examination or registered for one. You can find the declaration on the application for admission form.

c) A CV written in German or English containing information on the applicant’s date and place of birth, nationality, and university education.

d) An exposé (approximately 10 pages) describing the subject, the problem, the research objective, and the methodological approach, as well as a project timetable.

e) A positive assessment of the exposé issued by the supervisor, as well as the confirmation that he or she is going to supervise the doctoral thesis.

f) Proof of language competence in English or German
