"Materiality of Knowledge" professorship and guest researchers
The professorship "Materiality of Knowledge" will produce important ideas for the use of the collections through research and teaching activity. The focus of the professorship in research and teaching will be on the importance of materiality for generating and disseminating knowledge and the reconstruction of the knowledge cultures characterised by materiality. As head of the research centre for "Knowledge Research", the professor will initiate and conduct interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research projects on the materiality of knowledge cultures. The special focus here will be on the differentiation between disciplines, as can be particularly observed in the objects of the academic collections and in Göttingen as a research location. The specialist expertise contributed by the professorship will be supplemented by fellows invited by the research centre in cooperation with the Göttingen Institute for Advanced Study (Lichtenberg-Kolleg).
