Simulation-based Measurement and Validation of a Competency Model for Sustainability Management (Ko-NaMa)
Society and politics are increasingly demanding that questions of sustainability
should be systematically integrated in the teaching of business competence and
that these should be both cross-functional as well as specifically based on an
area of business. However, to date there are no diagnostically verified
analyzes of the learning outcomes in higher education in the area of
(corporate) sustainability.
The project "Ko-NaMa" aims at a simulation-based measurement and
validation of a competence model for sustainability management. In the
simulation, video sequences and authentic work materials are used to depict a
virtual company and generate realistic action situations. The overall goal of
the project can be subdivided into three sub-goals: (1) validation of the
competence model, (2) execution of an intervention study at various university
locations, and (3) generating explanatory factors at the individual and
institutional level for competence characteristics and competence development.
The execution of the project is carried out in cooperation with the Chair of
Business Education and Personnel Development, the Chair of Finance and
Controlling as well as the German Institute for International Pedagogy
Research.
The Chair of Application Systems and E-Business is responsible for the
technical implementation of the simulation environment. In the task creation
phase, a technical consultation takes place, which is then followed by the
transfer of the tasks into suitable simulation constructs and the
implementation. The measurements are supported by the technical team and the data is provided in a structured way.
The implementation of the project builds on previous experience collected by
the Chair of Application Systems and E-Business in creating competency
measurement tools in the recently completed projects CoSMed and TEMA projects.
