SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I believe that the humble cell is one of the most beautifully complex systems known to man with multiple reactions occurring at the same time. It has always fascinated me how the cell processes signals received and how the proteins involved in these signaling pathways perform their functions unprovoked. I am interested in studying the various complex processes associated with cell signaling and the effect of mutations on these signaling pathways. Recently, I have also been interested in synthetic biology and how it uses a bottom-up approach to simplify and model complex processes in-vivo, making them easier to study. Thus, I would like to combine my fascination with cellular signaling and interest in synthetic biology to model these signaling pathways, particularly those involved in the development of cancer. Through my research, I hope to better understand tumorigenesis and develop therapeutic strategies to prevent the same.
