02/2010 – 04/2011: Site-directed mutagenesis of alpha-amylase and characterization of biochemical (kinetic and activation) parameters of mutants and wild type. Also investigating inhibition mechanism of acarbose (antidiabetic drug) on these enzymes
04/2009 – 02/2010: Investigating the role of a C-terminal sequence of alpha-amylase with and without signal peptide on secretion of enzyme in to culture medium in Bacillus subtilis

SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Until now, my research projects have been mainly about protein engineering, concentrating on one part of the cell and trying to improve it in a desired function. Now I am really fascinated by the methods and approaches which study cells holistically such as proteomics, genomics and metabolomics. I am also interested in antibodies as special and unique proteins in diagnosis and treatment of different disease.
