Basic cloning and cell culture techniques including PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction and manipulation (restriction digestion, ligation, & transformation/transfection), cell culture, and an introduction to confocal microscopy.
I used these techniques to tag proteins with different fluorescent markers before transfecting them and checking their FRET interactions.

SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS
I am interested in many aspects of molecular biology and aim to build a strong foundation and understanding of all the fundamentals, which I believe can help me build a broad perspective and confidence as a researcher. I am most interested in signal transduction and how faulty signaling through oncogenic receptors or mediators can promote cancer development. Personal interests also involve endocrinology and physiological changes in response to environmental conditions, especially diet.
