Systems Neuroscience
The Department of Systems Neuroscience is researching the development and plasticity of neural circuits in the vertebrate cortex. How do experience and learning influence the structure and function of neuronal networks? How do activity patterns and genetic factors affect these processes? To answer these key questions, different methods and techniques are combined, for example
- imaging
- physiology
- neuroanatomy
- modelling
After all, it is not only about the functioning and development of neuronal circuits and the rules underlying learning in the brain, but also about developing new clinically relevant concepts for regeneration and hence enabling rehabilitation after brain injuries or diseases.
