Patrick Marquardt LL.M.

Patrick pursues his doctoral thesis concerning Strategic Litigation in International Law at the Chair of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Paulus. He holds a scholarship of the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft (sdw) and joined the Chair in 2025. Besides court and litigation research, his work focusses on international law in general, at sea and the use of force in its multi-level setting. Previously, Patrick studied political science and international law at the University of Göttingen and Sciences Po Paris.

From 2022 to 2025, he served as student assistant at the Chair for the Political System of Germany. Throughout the third-party funded project Politik und Recht erleben by Prof. Dr. Fink and Prof. Dr. Schwerdtfeger, he assisted interdisciplinary research regarding participation of citizens during the energy transition.

Patrick serves as officer for research colloquia of the Association of Young International Law Scholars and co-organises their semi-annual meetings. In 2024, he was recognised for his outstanding engagement for the youth by Federal Minister Lisa Paus. He won Göttingen University’s ideas competition in 2023.
