From Networking to Collaboration (The Guild) in person (Romania)

Call for Proposals for the 2nd The Guild Young Researchers Workshop 2026
Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB, Romania) invites doctoral and young researchers from The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities member institutions to a focused, two-day interactive workshop dedicated to exchanging best practices and research findings, and exploring together institutional strategies and funding opportunities related to supporting young researchers.

Target group: Doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers and early-career researchers affiliated with a member University of the Guild
Schedule: 05-06 November 2026
Venue: Cluj-Napoca (Romania)
Accommodation (max. 3 nights) and meals will be provided by the organizers. In exceptional situations, Babeș-Bolyai University will try to support travel costs, in the amount possible.

Following the first edition hosted by Babeș-Bolyai University in 2025, the second edition aims to strengthen the community of doctoral candidates and early-career researchers across The Guild through interdisciplinary dialogue, collaboration and career development.

Workshop Structure
The two-day workshop will include:

  • dedicated sessions for participants to present their current research and receive constructive feedback from peers and senior academics,
  • discussion on how universities, i.e. The Guild members, support and assess research careers,
  • a practical session on identifying and preparing successful funding applications for European calls (e.g., Horizon Europe, COST Actions).
  • new opportunities to establish a strong European network of The Guild young researchers.

Applicants should provide personal information, a research description (max. 300 words), a motivation statement (max. 300 words), and practical information regarding travel, accessibility and dietary requirements.

Application deadline: 31 August 2026
Notification of results: 05 September 2026

The programme is supported by the FSS grant awarded by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research for Babeș-Bolyai University’s participation in The Guild.
