A global assessment of wetland restoration effectiveness for birds

Wetland restoration has become an important strategy for wetland conservation and management. However, some wetland restoration projects have failed to achieve the intended bird conservation outcomes. This project will use published studies and databases to compare restored wetlands, unrestored degraded wetlands, and natural wetlands in their capacity to support bird communities. Using meta-analysis, we will assess bird taxonomic diversity, functional diversity, and phylogenetic diversity, and identify key factors influencing restoration effectiveness. The study aims to provide scientific evidence for future wetland restoration strategies.
