A little jump out of the boat, the feeling of victory that quickly fades – Tjark Evers, sailor and student of navigation missed his island. Not on the beach of the island Baltrum he stands on this winter morning, the day before Christmas 1866, but on an offshore sandbank in the midst of waves. The fog becomes dense and denser, the high tide rises and no help is available. While waiting for a miracle, the young man performs a miracle by himself: He searches for and finds shelter in words and phrases. Astrid Dehe, born and raised at the boundaries of the Eifel, lives and works in Münster.
Achim Engstler, born and raised at the coast of the North Sea, lives and works in Friesland.
