Daniel Schumann
Dr. Daniel Schumann (he/him) is a research associate at the Institute of Sociology at Freie Universität Berlin and is currently researching reconfigurations of diversity and internationalization in higher education. After completing a Studium Generale at Leibniz Kolleg Tübingen, he studied sociology at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. This was followed by a PhD at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen with a thesis on the politics of knowledge in post-migrant Germany using the example of school textbooks. In addition to positions at the University of Göttingen and Ruhr University Bochum, he was a guest Scholar at the GHI Pacific Office at the University of California, Berkeley and a fellow at the Research Institute Social Cohesion in Leipzig. His research interests lie in the areas of diversity research, sociology of education and knowledge, discourse and dispositif analysis, and methodologies of qualitative social research.
