Christian Loeben received his doctorate in 1999 with his dissertation "Observations on the Context and Function of Royal Statues in the Amun Temple in Karnak" in Berlin, then worked as a lecturer at several national and international universities and was involved in field work in Egypt. In 2004 he took over the position of curator of the Egyptian and Islamic Collection of the August Kestner Museum in Hannover. His research focuses on the architecture and art of Egypt, especially in the 2nd millennium BC. Chr.
