Pollinator communities, function, and service in the oil palm landscape of Jambi Province, Indonesia
Kevin´s research will center on flying insect pollinators within the oil palm landscape in Jambi Province of Sumatra, Indonesia. One of his projects will work within the B11 enrichment experiment, where enrichment plots of varying size and planted tree richness have been established within an oil palm monoculture. This project will look at how different treatments of plot size and richness affect the insect community and their potential pollination networks. The goal of this project is to understand how enrichment schemes might be optimized to support pollinator diversity in an oil palm agroecological system. Other projects include examining the landscape influences on pollinators over the broader rainforest transformation landscape, as well as using exclusion experiments to detect other oil palm pollinators beyond the introduced Elaeidobius kamerunicus. Kevin is also interested in spatial ecology and spatial simulation modeling.
