Ecotaxonomy database

Ecotaxonomy is an open platform for biodiversity research, that is being developed in the framework of the EFForTS project by the Laboratory of animal ecology, University of Göttingen. The platform connects scientists around the globe, working in the same cloud system to compile a comprehensive data on morphology, ecology and biogeography of organisms, and link it with literature and media materials. The unique feature of the system, that it allows to compile data on the organisms, that have not yet been described by scientists in a traditional way. The platform is fully flexible, allowing to create any parameter you need and then use it. The parameters are extrapolated hierarchically on the tree of life, greatly facilitating the data collection. Morphology of organisms is used to automatically create online interactive identification keys for any part of the world. Import and export interfaces allow for easy exchange of data with external resources. Finally, all data in Ecotaxonomy can be linked directly to user data in the virtual research environment, allowing cloud management of the projects, from the data collection to publication.
