Transition phase Start of studies
Starting a course of study is an important step in life, also in chemistry. We provide intensive support for our new students and are developing digital tools, advisory services and low-threshold networks in two projects. These help students get off to a successful start in their studies, but are also there to help them if, after a while, their studies turn out not to be a suitable path after all and they need to look for alternatives in the world of chemistry.

How diphosphorus can be used for chemical reactions
Chemical syntheses of new active ingredients or functional materials are based on the use of molecular modules. These must be reactive and stable enough to allow targeted incorporation into larger molecules. A research team from the University of Göttingen and the Goethe University Frankfurt has now demonstrated, using the diphosphorus molecule (P2) as an example, how such extremely unstable compounds can be used specifically for chemical reactions. The results of the study have been published in the journal CHEM.
