FrauenORT Dorothea Schlözer

In cooperation between the University of Göttingen and the City of Göttingen, the frauenORT Dorothea Schlözer was established in 2011 on the initiative of the Landesfrauenrat Niedersachsen e.V. (Lower Saxony State Women's Council).

On 7 May 2011, the Dorothea Schlözer Women's Place was ceremonially opened in the Paulinerkirche with around 120 guests. Professor Ulrike Beisiegel (President of the University), Christine Müller (Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Göttingen), Dr. Josef Lange (State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy), Dr. Edit Kirsch-Auwärter (Equal Opportunities Officer of the University), Wolgang Meyer (Mayor of the City of Göttingen) and Cornelia Könneker (Chairwoman of the Landesfrauenrat Niedersachsen e.V.) welcomed the guests.

"Bravery is of the female gender" was the title of the subsequent staged reading from texts by Dorothea Schlözer with actress Franziska Mencz (Bremen) and scholarship holders of the Dorothea Schlözer Programme.
