Community News
- A warm welcome to Roland Schäfer (Syntax Visiting Professor at the English Department), and Márta Abrusán (Lichtenberg Kolleg Fellow).
- Regine Eckardt delivered a talk at Sinn und Bedeutung, held at the University of Utrecht on September 6-8. The title of her presentation was "Who is talking?"
- Paula Menéndez-Benito and Luis Alonso-Ovalle gave an invited talk at the Workshop on Weak Referentiality, held at the University of Utrecht on September 9. Their presentation was entitled "Scalarity and Dependent Plurality in Spanish". They also presented this work at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on September 27.
- A proposal for a book on Epistemic Indefinites, edited by Luis Alonso-Ovalle and Paula Menéndez-Benito , has just been accepted by Oxford University Press. The book arises from the Workshop on Epistemic Indefinites that took place at the University of Goettingen in June 2010, but will also include contributions from a number of experts who did not participate in the workshop.
- Manfred Sailer gave an invited presentation on "Concord and Contribution Constraints in Lexical Semantics" at the special session on frames of the Ninth International Tbilisi Symposium on Language, Logic and Computation, Kutaisi, Georgia (September 26-30).
Upcoming Talks
- Next Tuesday (November 1), at 11 am, Márta Abrusán will present her work at the Lichtenberg Kolleg. If you would like to attend (or would like more information) please email Dominik Huenniger at Dominik.Huenniger@zvw.uni-goettingen.de.
- On November 9th, Eva Csipak will deliver a presentation on her work on the German Konjunktiv at the Courant Center Psycholinguistic Colloquium. Time: 2-4 pm.
Workshop Announcement
- The workshop "Indefinites and Beyond", organized by Edgar Onea and Paula Menéndez-Benito, will take place on November 18-19. The program, as well as other relevant information, can be found here.
You do not need to register in order to participate in the workshop. If you would like to join us for lunch, dinner or for the party, please email either Paula (pmenend@gwdg.de) or Edgar (edgar.onea@zentr.uni-goettingen.de) before November 16. - The 9th European Conference on Formal Description of Slavic Languages will take place at the University of Goettingen on December 7-9, 2011.
