Media in Germany
Freedom of the press is a cherished and protected right in Germany. The independence of the media is guaranteed in the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany. There are a wide range of newspapers, magazines, television, radio and online publications for you to choose from. .
The major broadcasting corporations of ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio offer a wide range of programmes. You can also access their audio and media library online. Public service broadcasting is committed to political independence and is financed by the
broadcasting fee (Rundfunkbeitrag)
Private media companies are financed through web revenues. Several thousand German-language television and radio stations can be access – some nationwide, some regionally. Most of the programmes can also be accessed online via streaming or downloaded.
