SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

My academic interests lie in understanding embryonic development from a molecular and cellular perspective. In detail, since gene expression regulation is the basis of many different cellular processes, I would like to understand from an evolutionary and mechanistic viewpoint the role of genome regulation (at different molecular levels) on the establishment of key transcriptional programs in development. Thus, I could answer some long-standing inquiries regarding the impact of genomic variation beyond the exome on evolution, the emergence of phenotypic diversity and human disease susceptibility.
