Public Lecture Series: Coercion in Medicine and Nursing

Public Lecture Series: Coercion in Medicine and Nursing

Coercive measures are among the most ethically and legally challenging issues in medicine and nursing. When are they justified? Where are their limits? And what alternatives exist to avoid coercion?
These questions are addressed in the public lecture series “Coercion in Medicine and Nursing”, organized by the Clinical Ethics Committee of University Medical Center Göttingen in cooperation with the Center for Medical Law at Georg August University Göttingen.
The lecture series consists of several individual lectures focusing on different fields of medical and nursing practice, including adult and child psychiatry, intensive and emergency medicine, geriatrics, and nursing care. The lectures take place on different dates between October 2025 and May 2026.
Detailed information on dates, times, speakers, and venues can be found in the lecture series flyer.
All lectures are delivered by recognized experts from medicine, nursing, ethics, and law and are intended to provide professional guidance as well as to foster interdisciplinary dialogue.
