Leaf area index - spatial heterogeneity at the landscape scale

Leaf area index is assumed to be an important predictor for evapotranspiration and other ecosystem processes. Within the frame of the joint Landscape Assessment, leaf area index will be measured using an optical, hand-held device (LAI-2200 Plant Canopy Analyzer, Licor). The observed variation in leaf area index at the landscape level may provide better insights into the spatial heterogeneity of evapotranspiration, and will also be available for further analyses.
