Visit in June 2014

Within the framework of the cooperation with HUE University of Agriculture and Forestry (HUAF) Prof. Dr. Martin Kappas and Dr. Jan Degener visited the local partners in Hue in June 2014. At one of the first meetings, in which the projects basic structure and the way forward was planned, Prof. Dr. Le Van An (Vice-Rector of the HUAF), Prof. Dr. Phung Thang Long (Vice Rector of HUAF), Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Phung (Head of the Department of Science and Technology - International Cooperation) and representatives of the post-graduate department and academic staff of the Department of land Use and Environment part (FLRAE) participated in addition to the direct project managers Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong and Dr. Nguyen Hoang Khanh Linh.
The meeting included substantive discussions about the purpose and direction of the project, its planned activities and expected results. In addition, the master programs of both universities were introduced to explore the possibility of synergetic effects.
A more concrete implementation of the planned curriculum and activities was discussed in another meeting with further FLRAE staff of which many will potentially be included in the project at one point or another.
In addition, Prof. Kappas presented current issues and questions in a seminar lecture on climate change, directed particularly to the younger teaching staff of the department.
Thus, the first meeting between the two partners was completed. Both sides are now working in collaboration towards a first concrete teaching and curriculum draft, which is to be finally agreed upon in a second meeting at the end of 2014.
