Conference at the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

From October 29 to November 1, 2023, Professor Sebastian Günther took part in the First International Conference on Arabic Language Studies in Europe, held by the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
In his paper, Professor Günther spoke about the history of Arabic studies in Göttingen and presented recent results of his research on classical Islamic education.

Along with specialists in Arabic language and literature from many European universities and leading representatives of Arabic language academies from nearly all Arab countries, much of the discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities of Arabic language teaching in Europe and beyond.

This highly fruitful meeting took place in a productive atmosphere amid the beautiful setting of the Academy, offering abundant opportunities for the assembled Arabists and Islamicists to exchange ideas about teaching Arabic and Islamic studies in various academic environments.
