The Data Governance Research Group (DGRG), founded in October 2024, is committed to advancing the understanding, implementation, and innovation of data governance practices through collaborative research, enabling organizations to manage their data assets responsibly, securely, and strategically. Our research addresses concrete topics, including establishing best practices for data governance, ensuring data quality, navigating ethical challenges, and examining the interplay between people, processes, and technology that influences governance’s impact on operational efficiency and decision-making. We analyze existing tools, processes, and interfaces within data governance to gain insights that inform the design of user-centric prototypical solutions, addressing industry-specific challenges and enhancing the overall effectiveness of governance practices. By bridging theory and practice, we aim to expand collaborations with industry partners to deliver real-world insights through case studies, guest lectures, and practical opportunities, making our research highly applicable to businesses looking to harness the power of data. For students, we provide an engaging and supportive environment for pursuing thesis and dissertation projects, offering mentorship and access to enriching lectures that equip them with the skills needed for successful careers in data governance. Through our research and educational initiatives, we strive to contribute to the transformation of organizations into data-driven entities that leverage effective data governance practices while nurturing the next generation of leaders in this important field.
