As an animal scientist, I research sustainable livestock systems in urban and peri-urban areas, focusing on food waste as animal feed within circular economies. In Phase I of the "Food Waste as Animal Feed" project, I examine the integration of food waste into livestock farming in South Asian countries of the Global South, emphasizing mainstreaming food waste as feed within circular economy frameworks. My work also explores closing the loop in urban Bangladesh through an actor-network approach, engaging policymakers, dairy farmers, waste collectors, and city dwellers in food waste-to-feed systems.
