  • Session #1: Method(ology)
    05.06.2026, 14:00-17:00, Venue: KWZ 1.610

This session aims to create a space to discuss how scholars approach the intertwined issues of violence and borders. We will focus on methodology to reflect on research practices and methodological challenges. In particular, we would like to unpack the ethical implications involved and discuss strategies for producing knowledge without reproducing violence.
  • Session #2: Governance of gendered/sexed subjectivities
10.06.2026, 10:00-13:00, Venue: Graduates School of Humanities Göttingen, Friedländer Weg 2, Room: R 0.101

Here, we can exchange on how gendered and sexed subjectivities are shaped, negotiated, and contested through different technologies/mechanisms of governance in context of migration and displacement. We will explore how migration regimes, asylum procedures, humanitarian discourses, and everyday bureaucratic practices govern bodies, identities, and forms of belonging. How do categories such as gender, sexuality, family, or vulnerability become administratively legible and politically regulated? In which ways do migration governance, racialization, and class relations shape the conditions under which certain subjectivities become recognizable, credible, or governable?
  • Session #3: Forced Migration, Resettlement and Gender Issues + blindspots
    12.05.2026, 13:00-16:00, Venue: KWZ 1.610

Here, we can discuss the intertwined relationship between forced migration and gender issues, examining how the historical development of both fields has shaped current debates, what progress has been Mäde in the literature, and which areas remain underexplored. Gender is also a crucial dimension of the integration process, as it significantly influences migrants’ social experiences, opportunities, and challenges in host societies.
