Bridging Worlds: Exploring Chinese Law at the Göttingen Summer School 2025
An insightful week comes to an end. Thank you to all panelists and participants of the Göttingen Summer School of Law 2025! This year, we were once again honored to welcome many renowned guest lecturers, including Prof. Dr. Eva Pils, Prof. Dr. Ge Chen, Prof. Dr. Yuanshi Bu, Dr. Markus Masseli, Dr. Madeleine Martinek, Prof. Donald Clarke, Katja Drinhausen, Dr. Joachim Glatter, Dr. Philipp Großkopf, Prof. Dr. Su Jiang, Katja Pessl, Prof. Dr. Knut Benjamin Pißler, Ass. Jur. Sandra Michelle Röseler and Dr. Simon Werthwein.
学海无涯! As the Chinese saying goes, there is no limit to learning. And so did the panels of our Summer School of Law.
From the 22nd to the 26th of September our guest panelists gave insights into the different factettes of Chinese law and Sino-German law comparative perspectives like the Tort Liability Law of the PRC, Chinese Merger Control, Chinese Business Law and the challenges in Foreign Trade Law and Emerging Trends. After a warm welcome by our institute director Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Krause, vice director Prof. Dr. Knut-Benjamin Pißler gave daily lectures on Chinese Business Law, covering the anatomy of Chinese business organizations.
We couldn’t have asked for a better audience. The DCIR was thrilled to welcome enthusiastic students from top institutions across Germany, Europe and China. All participants were highly motivated, asked many questions, and engaged in stimulating discussions and interactions with the guest lecturers. Thus, they made their first step in becoming bridge builders between Germany and China.
Although there were occasional technical issues, this year’s Göttingen Summer School of Law was a complete success — a lecture series that opened up the world of Chinese law to many students.
