Welcome to the Finno-Ugric Seminar!
The study of Finno-Ugric languages at the University of Göttingen dates back to the 18th century, almost to the time of the university’s founding (1737). The seminar was established in 1947, making it the oldest in Germany and the only one in Lower Saxony.
On this website, you will find all relevant information about Finno-Ugric philology as a degree program, our faculty members, semester overviews as well as current events. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please feel free to contact us. We are delighted that you are interested.
